Blue Hibiscus

Blue Hibiscus is not actually a member of the hibiscus family, though it is just as beautiful. It is commonly called Lilac Hibiscus, and it is a lovely hot weather blooming shrub that adds gorgeous accent color into a broad range of landscapes. Alyogyne huegelii (botanical name) is native to Western Australia, where they are often found extending along its entire coastline. Here in the United States, we like to plant them as the perfect evergreen shrub for use in an entryway, as hedges or borders. When in bloom, it can display breathtaking, large blue-purple flowers that captivate the senses and add curb appeal!

Blue Hibiscus plants thrive in a location where there's plenty of full sun exposure. Since they love the sun so much, we like to plant them in a sunny garden. Alyogyne huegelii grow fast. They also have low to moderate watering needs once established. Since they do not require too much water, they are well-suited for any drought-tolerant landscape. We recommend pruning after the bloom cycle. Pruning them can keep them full and can also promote fast bloom cycles. For optimal results, apply them with Super Charged Moon Juice!
